Man United Qatar takeover paves way for Chelsea to sign Neymar to begin Mauricio Pochettino era

Sheikh Jassim is not understood to be considering a move for Neymar should he become the new Manchester United owner.

Uncertainty remains at Old Trafford, with supporters left in the dark about whether the Glazer family truly want to sell the club. Jasmim - son of the former Emir of Qatar - has reportedly submitted a final £5billion bid for the Red Devils.

The consensus among supporters is a preference towards the Middle Eastern bid over INES owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s - who plans to keep the Glazers on board as a minority shareholder. Should the Sheikh buy the club, he plans to invest heavily in the first-team squad.

Like Chelsea, Man United have been linked with Paris Saint-Germain talisman Neymar. However, reports in Europe claim Jassim has no intention of signing the Brazilian and prefers his teammate, Kylian Mbappe, as well as Kingsley Coman and Eduardo Camavinga.

That could pave the way for Chelsea to pounce on the 31-year-old superstar. Todd Boehly has an eye for the spectacular but a lack of Champions League football may prove a stumbling block.

Not only does moving to Stamford Bridge become less attractive, but Financial Fair Play must come into consideration when enticing one of the world’s most well-paid footballers.

On a positive note, PSG are thought to be keen on offloading Neymar this summer. At 31, he is approaching his twilight years and there is clamour from fans to ditch the “Harlem Globetrotter” model that has failed them in recent years.

A move towards a more French-based squad appears on the cards and the Ligue 1 heavyweights need to trim an astronomical wage bill - the highest in world football. Throw in the Mauricio Pochettino dynamic and there is hope for Chelsea fans.

Neymar played some of his best football at PSG under the Argentine, widely expected to become the new Blues boss. The two enjoyed a fruitful relationship and Pochettino could be key to bringing the Brazilian to West London.
