Man United injury update: Marcus Rashford, Raphael Varane and Scott McTominay latest news and return dates

Manchester United have received a spate of timely boosts on the injury front.

The likes of Raphael Varane, Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay and Tom Heaton are all back in training after fitness fears.

However, Marcel Sabitzer has been ruled out for the season.

Long-term absences include Lisandro Martinez, Donny van de Beek and Phil Jones.

Here is your latest update of Manchester United injuries and return dates...

Marcus Rashford

Erik ten Hag had refused to divulge any information on Rashford’s leg injury after he was left out of the line-up to face Wolves last weekend.

“I can't tell in this moment,” he told BBC Sport when asked for a timeframe on Rashford. “I hope [he will be back soon]. Of course. And he will do everything that can be done. The medical staff is working hard on it, but I am focused, and my team are focusing, on this game.”

But the club confirmed on Wednesday that Rashford was back in training, suggesting he will be fit to face Bournemouth on the weekend. Ten Hag will provide a fresh update on Friday.

Raphael Varane

United have revealed that an injury precaution was behind Varane’s late substitution for Harry Maguire in the win over Wolves.

But the Frenchman is once again in training ahead of likely being fit to face Bournemouth.

Scott McTominay

McTominay is set to be in contention as well having trained this week. United have not yet confirmed the nature of the Scot’s problem but he is “on the way back”.

“He’s made really good steps,” Ten Hag confirmed pre-game. “He’s close, but not close enough to make [Wolves].”

Marcel Sabitzer

A meniscal problem will keep Sabitzer on the sidelines for the final weeks of the season.

Tom Heaton

After picking up an injury before the March international break, goalkeeper Heaton has now made his return to training.

Ten Hag is set to have the veteran to pick from for his squad against Bournemouth, with loanee Jack Butland recently in reserve to David de Gea.

Lisandro Martinez

Martinez’s season is over after he broke a metatarsal bone in his foot in the Europa League clash with Sevilla in March.

After a successful operation on the Argentine, he is targeting a return in pre-season.

Donny van de Beek

Ruled out for the season with a knee injury, Van de Beek gave an encouraging update earlier this month over his return for the next campaign.

He said: “I’m doing a lot of gym work and getting closer to being on the pitch, which is positive. I’m not far away.”
