Gary Neville has heaped praise on Alejandro Garnacho following his 93rd-minute goal that saw Manchester United beat Fulham 2-1 at Craven Cottage in the Premier League.
Erik ten Hag's side left it late to claim all three points in London, as United head into the World Cup break on a high. Christian Eriksen had given his side the lead in the 14th minute, scoring his first goal for the club as he turned home from close-range getting on the end of Bruno Fernandes' pass to the back-post.
Former United player Dan James came on as a second-half substitute for Fulham, and it didn't take long before he came back to haunt his old side, levelling the scores in the 61st minute. The two clubs appeared to be set to share the points as the game headed into injury time, before Garnacho stole the headlines with a superb left-footed finish into the bottom corner.
Neville then revealed exactly what he thought about Garnacho after his match-winning strike, admitting that the teenager needed to have a level of arrogance if he is to succeed at United.
He told Sky Sports: "If you’re a young player at Man United you’ve got to have arrogance, you have to have ego, he looks like he’s got that and passion as well. He’s just delivered a moment of brilliance and he’s broken Fulham’s hearts. They played so well in the second half, James scored but Garnacho the hero.
"He’s got something about him, no doubt about it. Bad attitude or not he can play, he’s brought an energy since he come on, the speed, the one-two. I remember Cristiano Ronaldo scoring a solo goal from that side many many years ago that won United the game, but not as late as this. The speed to get past [Bobby] Decordova Reid, Erik ten Hag’s team have been really poor in the last 20 minutes but he sent that crowd into mayhem."
