Liverpool target Darwin Nunez 'wants to play' in the Premier League amid interest from the Reds and Manchester United
The ECHO understands the Benfica striker is on a shortlist of players the Merseyside club are considering this summer as they look towards life without Sadio Mane. The winger has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield and has been the subject of bids from Bayern Munich.
Nunez is believed to fit the profile of the player Liverpool want to sign, although it must be emphasised they are unwilling to pay over the odds. They will also have to fend off competition from the likes of Manchester United and Atletico Madrid.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the player is said to favour a move to England with two of the league's biggest clubs vying for his signature.
He said on the Here We Go podcast : "He (Darwin Nunez) wants Premier League football, it's important to say. Many clubs are exploring this opportunity but Darwin Nunez has priorities is to move to the Premier League.
"Manchester United are discussing him internally, he is a target of Man United but also Liverpool. It depends on the price because Liverpool won't pay €100m for him, they want to pay way less.
"Also Man United are discussing the price, they have good relations with his agent who is close to Jorge Mendes. So Darwin Nunez is a possibility for Liverpool and Man United."
This does, however, contradict other reports circling this week. An article shared by the Telegraph suggests the 22-year-old is determined to join a Champions League club which is bad news for United, who finished sixth last season. They add that a move to Spain is currently the most likely outcome.
It goes without saying, Liverpool remain an attractive prospect to any potential signings having just won two domestic cups, reached the Champions League final and were fixed in a title race up until the final day of the campaign. But it is believed they are tracking a number of players as they look to secure the best value transfer.
