Man United fans love what Diogo Dalot and Juan Mata said to Raphael Varane amid World Cup fears

Manchester United supporters have joined Diogo Dalot and Juan Mata in sending their regards to injured defender Raphael Varane. The Frenchman was in tears as he limped off during last weekend's 1-1 draw against Chelsea, with his World Cup place now in jeopardy.

Erik ten Hag confirmed a hamstring injury will rule him out of United action and his place at next month’s competition hangs in the balance. Ahead of the clash with West Ham United, the Dutchman said: "He will be out, certainly until the World Cup so he will not play in this block. I think (he could go to Qatar) but the prognosis we have to wait."

Varane provided a positive injury update on Instagram while sending a pre-match message to his teammates. He posted: “Thank you everyone for the kind messages this week. I have been working! Feeling good. Good luck today boys.”

An Instagram story also showed the defender working out on an exercise bike as he battles to make the France squad. Dalot and former United midfielder Mata - now at Turkish giants Galatasaray - both commented “Vamos” to show solidarity with the 29-year-old.

United supporters were quick to send messages of support to the defender, while they also praised Dalot and Mata for taking the time to message their former teammate. Despite suffering injury problems last season, Varane has been a mainstay in Ten Hag’s backline this season after forging a formidable partnership with new arrival Lisandro Martinez.
