Man United fans find Aaron Wan-Bissaka replacement as James Garner suffers promotion heartbreak

Manchester United fans believe the club should make a move for exciting Nottingham Forest full-back Djed Spence.

Spence was in action on Tuesday night in a massive match in the race for promotion to the Premier League as Forest travelled down to Bournemouth. A tense and enthralling game eventually concluded with the Cherries securing an instant return to the top flight after narrowly winning 1-0 through Kieffer Moore's late strike.

United loanee James Garner, who has enjoyed an excellent campaign in the Midlands, played the full 90 minutes of the match but his efforts weren't enough to prevent heartbreak for Forest. Instead, they will go into the play-offs as they bid to return to the Premier League for the first time since 1999.

Garner, as he has all year, made a series of lovely passes in the middle of the park but it was right wing-back Spence who really caught the attention of United fans who tuned in for the high-stakes affair. The 21-year-old has been superb this season, notching three goals and five assists.

Spence is currently on loan from Middlesbrough but there has been growing speculation that he could earn a big-money move in the summer, with several clubs said to be interested. United are one of the sides that have been linked and, with the Londoner said to be a United fan, supporters want the club to make a move.

Right-back has been a problem position for both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick this season, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka continuing to underperform and Diogo Dalot remaining inconsistent. Incoming manager Erik ten Hag will need to strengthen a lot of positions in the summer transfer window and Spence could potentially be a cost-effective signing in order to save budget for elsewhere.
