Man United exploring Frenkie de Jong alternatives as Ryan Gravenberch details transfer talks

Here are your Manchester United evening headlines for Monday, June 13.

United willing to walk away from De Jong transfer

United’s pursuit of Frenkie de Jong continues to rumble on, although they may well be forced to explore other avenues. The Reds have opened talks with Barcelona as they try and seal a move for the 25-year-old this summer, with Erik ten Hag having identified his former Ajax protégé as an ideal target.

Ten Hag held talks with Gravenberch over United transfer

United fans are still waiting for that first signing of the summer, although there’s no shortage of names being linked with a move. One player who has already been and gone is Ryan Gravenberch, who is set to complete his move to Bayern Munich.

The 20-year-old’s transfer from Ajax has now been officially confirmed, with Gravenberch signing a five-year contract with the Bundesliga champions. The deal is worth €18.5million, and could rise to €24m with add-ons in what is a bargain for Bayern.

Things could have been very different though. United were one of the clubs linked with Gravenberch’s services, and the Netherlands international has revealed he spoke to Ten Hag about the possibility of joining him at Old Trafford.
