Man United Consider Loan Move For Viktor Gyokeres Alternative

Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a January loan move for PSG striker Randal Kolo Muani as an alternative to Viktor Gyokeres.

Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United Striker Conundrum

The Red Devils have struggled for goals so far this season with only three sides scoring fewer than the 12 that they have been able to muster up in the Premier League.

It is an issue that new manager Ruben Amorim will quickly want to address and to do that he is likely going to need to delve into the transfer market sooner rather than later.

There were instant links with Amorim’s former Sporting striker Gyokeres, who has netted a stunning 23 goals in 18 appearances across all competitions this season.

However, the Swedish striker has a release clause worth £83.8 million and has made it clear that he wants to stay at the Portuguese side until the end of the season.

United look unlikely to spend big money in the January transfer window and German news outlet fussball.news have claimed that United could look to make a loan move for Kolo Muani.

Manchester United Consider Move for Randal Kolo Muani

With Victor Gyokeres appearing to be off the table until at least the summer, Randal Kolo Muani could potentially offer extra competition and a source for goals for the second half of this season.

Fussball.news report that Manchester United could look to take advantage of the Frenchman’s situation at current club PSG.

The 25-year-old has struggled to live up to expectation since his £79m move to the Parc des Princes from Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.

He has scored just eight goals in 34 Ligue 1 appearances for the French giants since the beginning of last season.

National boss Didier Deschamps is a big fan and he has become a regular for Les Bleus, including at the 2022 World Cup.

While Kolo Muani doesn’t have the most prolific record, he would increase the levels of competition in the centre-forward role alongside Rasmus Hojlund and struggling newcomer Joshua Zirkzee – at least until the end of the season.

Despite the uncertainty over his future, Kolo Muani told French media that he had not thought about an exit and added: “I’ve always had to work hard, things have never been easy for me. You can’t let up. If you let up, it’s over, then you’ll go under.’

Manchester United’s Interest In Viktor Gyokeres

Any move for Randal Kolo Muani could be down to the fact that Viktor Gyokeres is unlikely to make a move to any club until the end of the season.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano tweeted on Sunday that Gyokeres doesn’t plan to leave Sporting in the January transfer window.

“I want to finish this season at Sporting. I love it here. New club? We will see when the time comes. I want to play, that’s crucial… and there will be also other factors,” Gyokeres said.

The news will likely come as a blow to new Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim. He was most recently Gyokeres’ manager in Lisbon and is keen to sign an out-and-out goalscorer.

Nonetheless, the Red Devils will reignite their interest in the 26-year-old at the end of the current campaign. Currently, Gyokeres has a release clause of £83m. In the summer, he can leave for just £63m.
