Man United ace Cristiano Ronaldo posts picture of newborn daughter after sad death of his son

Cristiano Ronaldo has shared a picture of himself with his new baby girl after an emotional week for the Manchester United star.

Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez announced the sad passing of their newborn son on Monday. The couple had been expecting twins, with their baby girl thankfully safely delivered.

The news saw an outpouring of messages and condolences, with the 37-year-old missing United’s game against Liverpool on Tuesday night. Among the tributes, fans at Anfield joined in for a minute’s applause during the seventh minute of the match.

Having thanked supporters for their gesture, Ronaldo went on to share an image of himself with his family on Instagram on Thursday. In the photo, the United ace can be seen holding his new daughter and smiling with Rodriguez after they had returned home.

“Home sweet home,” Ronaldo posted along with the image. “Gio and our baby girl are finally together with us. We want to thank everyone for all the kind words and gestures. Your support is very important and we all felt the love and respect that you have for our family. Now it’s time to be grateful for the life that we’ve just welcomed into this world.”

Ronaldo returned to training with United on Wednesday after missing Tuesday’s defeat to Liverpool and was pictured with his teammates back at Carrington on Thursday. The forward is expected to be back in contention for Saturday’s clash with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
