A man sustained a wound to his leg during an alleged stabbing incident in Wishaw in the early hours of Monday morning.

It was one of a number of incidents over the weekend in the Wishaw and Motherwell area, with arrests made.

Police officers attended Earn Crescent in Pather at 2.35am on May 2 in relation to a report of a man having sustained an injury with a knife.

The injured man, a 27-year-old, was traced and found to have a 3cm laceration to his leg. He was taken to Wishaw General for treatment.

A 29-year-old man has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing in relation to the alleged incident.

Elsewhere, two men were arrested and charged in connection with an incident in Motherwell on Sunday, May 1.

Police attended North Orchard Street in the town around 8pm after receiving a report of a fight in the street.

Following the arrest of two 30-year-old men, one allegedly assaulted the arresting officers while within Wishaw General, pushing one of them to the ground causing him to sustain and injury to his arm.

He was subsequently subject to additional charges while within the hospital grounds.

A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

And CCTV operators alerted police to a break-in at a house in Motherwell last Saturday night.

The council employees observed a man breaking into the property on Bellshill Road in the town at 9pm on April 30.

Police attended and observed a window to the address to have been forced and entry gained.

A 23-year-old male was subsequently arrested and charged in connection to the alleged offence.
