A man has been found dead in Penshaw, Houghton-le-Spring, police confirmed this afternoon (January 6),
Officers responded to concerns for the welfare of a man on Kingswood at around 9am today, but discovered the man was deceased when they arrived.
“His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers at this extremely difficult time,” said a spokesman for Northumbria Police.
“There is believed to be no third-party involvement and a report is being prepared for the coroner.”
No cause of death has yet been confirmed.
