Police taped off an area of Rutherglen Main Street yesterday after a man died.
At around 3.39pm, emergency personnel, including four Scottish Ambulance Service vehicles, sped to the scene near the Co-Op in response to reports that a man was unwell.
Despite attempts to save him he was tragically declared dead at the scene.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.15pm on Thursday, June 15, 2023, police were called to assist the Scottish Ambulance Service after a man took unwell on Main Street, Rutherglen.
“The man was pronounced dead at the scene and next of kin are aware.
“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 3.39pm to attend an incident on Rutherglen Main Street yesterday.
“We dispatched three resources to the scene and one Critical Care paramedic, and the patient was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Glasgow.”
