A Perth man will face court following a fatal hit and run involving an elderly cyclist.

Police will allege the driver of a vehicle involved failed to stop and help.

The e-cyclist died at the scene.

Police from Perth's Major Crash Investigation Section arrested a 45-year-old man and seized a damaged silver Mitsubishi ASX from his residence on Monday.

They say he provided false information to the owner of the vehicle to explain the damage sustained in the crash, which was subsequently included in an insurance claim.

The accused man has been charged with failing to stop and ensure assistance after an incident occasioning death, failing to report the incident and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

He was refused police bail and scheduled to appear in Joondalup Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Detectives have called for anyone with dash-cam or mobile phone vision of the crash to contact them.
