A man who was in possession of a knife in a Paisley street threw it in a bin when he caught sight of cops.
Mark Moore’s sister phoned police when she was concerned he was in possession of a blade.
Moore, 27, admitted ahead of his trial at Paisley Sheriff Court that he was in possession of a knife in the town’s High Street on August 31, 2020.

Procurator fiscal depute Amber Feeney told the court: “Around 12.50am, a witness contacted the police stating someone was in possession of a Stanley blade.
“Police attended and on their arrival, the accused was observed on camera discarding an item into a nearby bin.
“The witness stated to the police, ‘it was me that called you, he’s my brother and he’s got a blade on him by the way.’
“Police officers opened the bin and observed a folding Stanley blade knife.
“He was cautioned and charged and he replied, ‘I never unlawfully hurt anyone else.’”
Defence agent Kirsty McGeehan told the court Moore accepted full responsibility for the incident and had attempted to plead guilty at an earlier diet but there was problems with Crown productions.
Sentencing, Sheriff Lindsay Kooner said: “This item causes significant dangers in a public place.
“Your sister was right to be concerned you had the item.
“But there is an alternative to custody in this case.”
Sheriff Kooner made Moore subject of the social work department 12 months.
In addition, Moore of Mossview Quadrant in Glasgow, was ordered to carry out 180hours of unpaid work, reduced from 200 hours due to his plea at a trial diet.
These hours are to be completed within 12months.
Sheriff Kooner also placed Moore of a restriction of liberty order for 81 days keeping him within his home address between the hours of 7pm and 7am each day.
A review hearing was fixed for September 19 and Moore’s bail was continued.
