A fuming man blasted his neighbour for playing loud music before threatening to 'smash her son's face in' in an abusive rampage. Chad Scarah, 21, was given five days rehabilitation and was fined £100 for breaching a suspended sentence after his musical fuelled mayhem.
Hull Crown Court heard how Scarah was livid after his neighbour returned back from a night out with friends and began to play loud music their TV, reports Hull Live. The 21-year-old and his girlfriend, with two children aged six and three, were asleep in bed when they were suddenly awoken by the music.
Bede Porter, prosecuting, said: "Upon playing the music, Scarah could be heard shouting from next door." The 21-year-old then went round to complain and the woman, who had known him for several years, turned the music down.
She then invited the defendant into her home to join the group and further discuss the matter. Mr Porter added :"He ignored the offer and threatened to smash all the windows."
The victim then repeated her offer that he could come in and that his children could go there and sleep over. Scarah further ignored his neighbour and threatened to attack her son and smash his face in.
He shouted: "I'll f***ing do them all." He then returned back to his own home, picked up a glass and went back to the neighbours.
He warned them: "This is just the start as all the windows are going in." Scarah then threw the glass at a lower window, making a hole and causing rest of the glass in the pane to shatter.
The glass he threw at the window also shattered around the garden. Upon seeing the damage he had caused Scarah's girlfriend 'dragged him inside' stated Mr Porter.
The prosecutor said : "Inside, he could be heard banging on the walls and shouting." The terrified neighbour contacted the police and officers arrived at the scene at 12.52am.
Scarah was then taken to Clough Road police station. The 21-year-old's previous convictions include two offences of assault and another of racially aggravated harassment from earlier this year.
He was in breach of an 18-month suspended custodial sentence imposed in 2020 for two offences of criminal damage, three of harassment, one of affray and two each of driving while disqualified and having no insurance.
Cathy Kioko-Gilligan, mitigating, told the court that Scarah behaved terribly and with a lack of maturity. She said: "He could have dealt with the situation better."
"It reflects his immaturity and his immature years. He can see where he has made mistakes."
The sentencing had been previously deferred on May 26 so Scarah could prove that he could keep out of trouble, cooperate with the probation service and continue seeking help for his problems. At a resumed hearing, defence barrister Rachel Scott said that there had been no new offences and the 21-year-old had been keeping appointments with the probation service.
Scarah was given 15 days’ rehabilitation and was fined £100 for breaching the suspended sentence. A community order made on January 23 was revoked.
