Man threatens staff during Shawlands bank robbery as police appeal for witnesses

A police manhunt is underway after a robbery at a Shawlands bank.

The man threatened staff at the Royal Bank of Scotland in Kilmarnock Road and made off with a three figure sum of cash at around 4:05pm this afternoon.

Detectives have launched an appeal for information to trace him and are appealing for witnesses.

He is described as being aged between 40 and 50, wearing a grey hooded top and light blue jeans and was carrying an item wrapped in plastic carrier bags.

Detective Laura Roberts of Govan Police Station said: "Thankfully no one was injured during the incident but it was a very frightening experience for staff in the bank. Extensive enquiries are ongoing to trace the man responsible and I would appeal to anyone in the area at the time or just prior to contact police.

"I would also be keen to speak to anyone with private CCTV or dash cam footage from the area. Anyone with information which can assist investigation should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2174 of Monday, 28 February, 2022.

"Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous."
