A man who threatened to slit a sheriff’s throat while in the dock has been jailed for 20 months.
John Marshall, 29, made the outburst to lawman Mark Thorley at Glasgow Sheriff Court on June 8, 2022.
Marshall had been appearing for vandalism and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner before being remanded in custody.

Prosecutor Lauren Sangray said: “On being led from the dock by court officers, Marshall shouted to the presiding sheriff ‘ya auld b*****, you cost me my daughter, I will see you outside, I will f**ing slit your throat’.”
Marshall continued to shout threats and swear as he was led into the cells. The crime emerged as Marshall returned to Glasgow Sheriff Court to plead guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
Stephen Dryden, defending, said: “He recognises his outburst was utterly inappropriate and deplorable.
“He asks me to apologise profusely to the sheriff and other members of the court staff present when it occurred.
“He very much regrets his behaviour.
”Sheriff Tony Kelly told Marshall, who appeared from custody, that there was no alternative to a custodial sentence.
He added: “This is a serious offence to threaten a judicial officer carrying out his duty - it’s a grave matter.”
