Man taken to hospital with 'unexplained' injuries as search team descends on Byker street

A man has been taken to hospital with 'unexplained' injuries following an incident in Newcastle.

Northumbria Police were called to the scene on Albion Row in Byker yesterday evening shortly before 7pm (May 23) following reports of concern regarding the welfare of a man. Officers found a man at the scene who had injuries that have been described as 'unexplained'.

The man was taken to hospital for further treatment. An investigation into the incident is now under way with police inquiries ongoing.

Multiple police cars and a search team was spotted at the scene throughout Tuesday morning.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly after 7pm yesterday (Monday) officers received a report of concern for the welfare of a man in Byker.

“The man was taken to hospital with injuries that are currently being treated as unexplained. Enquiries remain ongoing.”

A spokeswoman for North East Ambulance Service confirmed that they did not attended the scene on Albion Row.
