Man taken to hospital with head injury after crash on East Lancashire road

A man has been rushed to hospital after a crash on the East Lancashire Road today.

A cyclist, in his 30s, was involved in a crash with a black BMW car on the East Lancashire road and Moorgate Road junction, near Knowsley Industrial Park. Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 9.51am on Friday, May 20.

Police cordoned off a section of the road, as two rapid response ambulance crews attended. A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance service confirmed that they took a man to hospital with head and leg injuries.

A spokesperson for Merseyside police said: "We were called at 9.50am today, Friday 20 th May, to reports of a collision between a BMW car and a pedal cycle on the East Lancashire Road/Moorgate Road. The cyclist, a male in his 30s, has been taken to hospital with a head injury.

"The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting with enquiries. Anyone with information can DM @MerPolTraffic or @MerPolCC quoting reference 22000346573."
