Man taken to hospital following 'dog attack' in Co Down

A man has been taken to hospital after being "attacked by a dog" in Banbridge on Monday.

Police received a report at around 10.50am on Monday, October 3, that a man had been attacked by a dog in the Lurgan Road area of the Co Down town.

After arriving at the scene, officers ensured the safety of others in the area before bringing the dog under control.

One man was taken to hospital for injuries that he received during the incident.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police received a report that a man had been attacked by a dog in the Lurgan Road area of Banbridge at approximately 10.50am on Monday 3 October.

"Officers attended and took actions to ensure the safety of others in the vicinity until the dog was under control. The man was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries.

"The matter has been passed to the local dog warden who will be carrying out an investigation."
