A man was taken to hospital following a "serious assault" in County Durham, police have said. The incident is believed to have occurred on Harrison Terrace in Darlington in the early hours of Sunday morning (May 15).
Darlington Police has since put out an appeal asking for anyone with information to get in touch. Officers are now particularly keen to speak to a woman who found the victim in the Denes area and drove him to Darlington Memorial Hospital at around 5.30am.
Police said the car used to take the man to the hospital is believed to be a black Mercedes A-class and asked for the witness in question to get in touch.

A spokesperson for Darlington Police said: "Police are looking to trace a witness following a serious assault in Darlington on Sunday morning. The incident occurred on Harrison Terrace in the early hours of the morning (May 15).
"Officers are now particularly keen to speak to a woman who found the victim in the Denes area and drove him to Darlington Memorial Hospital at around 5.30am that morning. The car used to take the victim to hospital is believed to be a black Mercedes A-class.
