A man was taken to hospital after being knifed in a group attack outside a bar.
At around 2am on Saturday, April 22, police received a report of a disturbance outside Annie McCarthy’s bar on Albemarle Street, in South Shields. It was alleged that a man had been approached by a group of men who were not known to him in the smoking area of the premises.
For reasons yet to be established, the men proceeded to punch the victim, causing him to fall to the ground. They then continued to assault him before making off from the scene in a car, according to Northumbria Police.
