Man taken to hospital after fight on anti-social behaviour-hit Cardiff street

An injured man was said to have walked into a busy pub after a fight on an anti-social behaviour-hit street. Police were called to reports that a man with injuries had walked into the The Ivor Davies pub in Cowbridge Road East, Cardiff, late on Friday night.

When officers arrived at the scene they established there had been an altercation outside the nearby Boots.

A statement from South Wales Police said they were called at 11.50pm, and witnesses in the area said there was a large police presence. Photographs show three police vans and a number of officers on foot at the scene.

A spokeswoman for the police said: "One man in his 30s was taken to hospital following the altercation."

Inquiries are continuing and there is an appeal for anyone with information, or who witnessed the incident, to contact South Wales Police on 101 quoting occurrence number 2300136901.

There is no indication what caused the fight but there have been calls for the street to be made alcohol-free. You can read more about that here. The road is home to a number of independent businesses and has seen issues with anti-social behaviour on the benches outside Tesco Express, from people drinking and swearing at passers-by, for more than two years.
