Man taken to hospital after Callington Road shop incident in Brislington

Emergency services were called to Callington Road in Brislington over the weekend after an incident at a shop. A team from Avon and Somerset Police arrived at the south Bristol location after concerning reports involving a man’s welfare in the late hours of Saturday night (November 19).

South Western Ambulance Services also attended the scene and the man was taken away for treatment at hospital. A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "At 11pm on Saturday officers attended a shop on Callington Road, Bristol, after concerns were raised for the welfare of a man.

"The man was subsequently detained and taken to hospital where he remains receiving treatment." Police did not give further detail about what happened.

Bristol police officer PC Joe Iles tweeted on Sunday morning: "Last night our team along with @swasFT dealt with an incident in Brislington I will never forget. The professionalism from everyone in such an intense incident was extraordinary."

Callington Road is part of the busy A4174 ring road around Bristol. Police did not specify which shop the incident happened at.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust said: “We were called at 23.17hrs on Saturday to an incident in Brislington. We sent a double-crewed land ambulance and an operations officer. We conveyed one patient to hospital."
