Man taken to hospital after being found injured 'lying on the grass'

A man has been taken to hospital after being found injured 'lying on the grass' following reports of a fight in Rochdale.

Police were called to the concern for the welfare of a man on Fieldhouse Road in the town at around 4pm on Sunday (19 March).

He was taken to hospital for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. An investigation has been launched by police who believe the man was involved in a fight.

No arrests have been made and police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to contact them.

An eyewitness reported seeing 'police everywhere' following the incident, and said she'd seen a man lying on the grass before emergency services arrived on the scene.

Pictures from the scene show the road taped off, with police vehicles stationed at the cordon and officers seen carrying out enquiries nearby.

In a statement, GMP said: "Greater Manchester Police received reports regarding the concern for the welfare of a man on Fieldhouse Road in Rochdale at around 4pm on Sunday 19 March 2023.

"Injuries sustained are believed to not be life threatening and enquiries are ongoing at this time into a suspected affray with no arrests made currently.

"Information that may help officers with their investigation are asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting incident 2015 of 19/03/23."
