A man was taken to A&E after being punched in the face during an altercation near Whitley Bay Metro Station.
Police received a report of a disturbance after 9pm on Saturday near Whitley Bay Metro Station. It was reported that a man was punched and suffered an injury to his face.
The man was then taken to A&E to be 'checked out' at the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care hospital in Cramlington, police have confirmed. An investigation is currently ongoing.
Police have appealed for any witnesses to the incident to get in contact with them.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly after 9pm on Saturday, we were alerted to a disturbance near Whitley Bay Metro Station. It was reported that a man was punched during an altercation and was taken to A&E to be checked out.
“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to report it via the ‘Tell us Something’ section of our website, or by calling 101, and quoting NP-20220625-1220.”
A North East Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called to an area behind Whitley Bay Metro Station at 9.19pm on Saturday to a patient with a injury to their face. A paramedic crew attended and transported a man to Northumbria Hospital in Cramlington."
