A man suspected of having a crossbow on a bus was arrested by armed officers in Wythenshawe.
Officers with 'huge guns' surrounded the bus on Portway at around 5.30pm on Wednesday (September 28) after it was brought to a sudden halt. Members of the public were evacuated from the vehicle for their safety, police said.
A spokesperson for the force confirmed this morning that a man had reportedly taken a crossbow onto the bus. He was believed to have injured his own hand with the weapon, the spokesperson added.

The man, in his 30s, was then arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. He remains in custody for questioning.
Police said there 'is no suggestion that any threats were made to the public'. Pictures sent to the Manchester Evening News showed officers pointing their guns at the bus in the dramatic scenes.
Startled passengers told how police officers ordered those on the bottom floor to leave the bus immediately. One passenger who was on board the bus told the M.E.N. he had heard a police helicopter overhead moments before the incident.
He said: "I got a bus from Benchill to Wythenshawe and then changed buses. I heard the helicopter above but didn't think anything of it at first. I got on the next bus and as we are going through Woodhouse Park the bus pulled over, which I assumed was to allow the police to pass us.
"The next thing I knew they had surrounded the bus and jumped out with huge guns, shouting at us all on the ground floor to get off the bus. We all stood on and watched, none of us really knew what was happening.
"All the neighbours came out and were watching, and then after someone was arrested, we were told we could get back on again. Just before we were about to leave, an officer came on to check everyone was okay and that nobody was shaken up.
"In that moment, every scenario runs through your head."
