A man remains in hospital after falling from the Silver Jubilee Bridge into the Manchester Ship Canal in Runcorn.
Emergency services including coastguard descended on the scene after being called to a stretch of water close to the crossing at around 10.45pm on Friday.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS) deployed five appliances from Runcorn, Widnes, Penketh and Lymm in addition to a boat and rope rescue unit as part of the rescue effort.

The brigade said the craft’s crew was able to locate the stricken casualty and used a sled and rope to retrieve him from the water before passing him into the care of paramedics
A section of Mersey Road was cordoned off during the rescue.
Cheshire Police told the ECHO on Tuesday the man was taken to Aintree University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A force spokesman confirmed the casualty had fallen from the bridge.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious and the patient remains in hospital.
