Man suffers 'serious head injuries' after being hit by bus on Christmas Eve

A man was hit by bus and taken to hospital with serious head injuries.

Officers were called to the crash on Queens Drive at 7.18pm hours on Christmas Eve. Police blocked the road and pictures of the scene showed a cordon in place.

A force incident manager for Merseyside Police today confirmed a man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries after being hit by the bus. This incident happened around 50 minutes before another crash on Sheil Road, Kensington.

At around 8.10pm on Saturday, emergency services were called to Sheil Road to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian and a police car. Other emergency services attended and the woman was confirmed dead at the scene.

The woman’s next of kin have been informed and her family are being supported by specially trained officers. Formal identification has not yet been made . Road closures were in place while emergency services attended the incident. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) have been informed and have attended the scene.

Merseyside police said they are appealing for any witnesses, CCTV and dash camera footage which may assist the investigation.
