Man suffers 'serious facial injury' during broad daylight attack on Lanarkshire street

A man suffered a "serious facial injury" after he was assaulted in broad daylight on a Lanarkshire street.

The 39-year-old was walking in the Luing area of Airdrie, near Varnsdorf Way, at 4.15pm on Monday when he was attacked.

.He was later taken to Monklands Hospital for treatment and detectives are now carrying out extensive enquiries to trace whoever is responsible for the shocking assault.

DC David Forde told Lanarkshire Live : "This incident saw a man sustain a serious facial injury and it is vital we trace the individual responsible.

"Our enquiries are ongoing and I am appealing for anyone with any information which may assist us to get in touch.

"I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen something suspicious to contact us.

"We are also keen to hear from anyone with potential private CCTV, dashcam or video doorbell footage."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101.

Information can also be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
