A man suffered serious injuries including a punctured lung as the result of a street attack in Arnold, police have said.
He was walking along Bestwood Lodge Drive at around 2.25pm on Friday, February 25, when he was reportedly attacked by a man armed with a blunt instrument.
The victim is also said to have suffered fractured ribs, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
Nottinghamshire Police have carried out searches in the area, with house-to-house inquiries and CCTV checks planned.
Detective Constable Christopher Black, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are working hard to understand the circumstances of this incident and to track down the offender who was responsible.
“The investigation is very much ongoing but we are treating this as an isolated incident. While there is no threat to the wider public, reassurance patrols have been upped in the area as our inquiries continue.
“I would like to reassure people that violence of this sort will not be tolerated on our streets and we will take robust action against those who choose to engage in this type of disorder.
“To assist us with our ongoing investigation we are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or who may have captured CCTV, dash-cam or mobile phone footage, to please get in touch with Nottinghamshire Police as soon as possible.”
