The young man who was brutally murdered in a violent Toxteth street attack was named by police as one man was arrested on Friday night.
Hassan Ahmed Mohamoud, who was 29 years old and lived in Toxteth , was stabbed in the neck in a sickening broad daylight attack on Thursday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to Bentley Road shortly after 1pm to reports that a young man had been stabbed. Hassan was rushed to hospital but died a short time later.
People who knew the victim have described him as a "gentle giant" amongst the countless devastated tributes posted to social media.
Detectives investigating the fatal street stabbing arrested a 28-year-old on suspicion of murder. The man, also from Toxteth , was taken to a police station for questioning.
Paying tribute to Hassan, many people expressed their horror at the savage incident, that saw dozens of police and forensic officers flood the street where the stabbing took place.
On Facebook, Alan Dean said: "Shocked to hear that another young life has been needlessly cut short.
"Hopefully the killer will be caught and dealt with by the courts."
Andrea Fitz also said: "No, not again, this has to stop! Another mother with no child."
Prince Abdikarim added: "Gentle giant RIP."

Pictures taken at the scene of the murder on Thursday afternoon show multiple forensic vans parked outside the cordon as detectives arrived to begin their investigation.
The incident was described as an "appalling crime" by police as they made an appeal for witnesses, CCTV and dashcam footage that could help their investigation.
Police are continuing to appeal to anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to come forward and tell tell what they know.
