Man stabbed multiple times in knife attack while stuck in traffic in Cardiff

A man has required surgery after being stabbed multiple times while in his car in Cardiff. South Wales Police say they are making enquiries after receiving reports of an "assault involving knives" on Narberth Road, Caerau at around 3pm on Tuesday, July 11.

The man, who does not want to be named for safety reasons, said that there were armed police, an air ambulance and the Welsh Ambulance Service on Amroth Road, near Narberth Road.

The 24-year-old has described the incident to WalesOnline and shared photos of his injuries which showed deep gashes on his arms and legs with large pools of blood. He asked for these photos not to be shared. He said there were two assailants.

The man who has a fourth-month-old daughter said: "I know of them [the attackers] but don't know them. They were walking up the street staring at me and then they punched me through my car window.

"He told me to roll my window down so I did and he struck me through my window. I was stuck in traffic as well so there was nowhere I could go. I couldn't flee.

"All I could do was defend myself so I got out of the car to defend myself. There were two of them and one of them ran off around the corner and I got back in my car and tried to turn my car around but there was traffic both ways so I couldn't go anywhere."

He said that one of the attackers returned with the weapon. "I still had my window down but I didn't have time to do anything and he came back and opened my car door and slashed me in my arm and leg and my head. It was a big massive machete-looking thing.

"I looked down and blood was pouring into me. I managed to get to my nans and I was just shouting 'I've been stabbed'. I have lost about a litre of blood."

No arrests or charges have yet to be made and the man says he has received threats. "It started off with bribes and now it's threats about if I press charges. They just didn't like it that I looked at them."

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "Just after 3pm yesterday (Tuesday, July 11) a report was received of an assault involving knives at Narberth Road, Caerau.
