Man stabbed multiple times in horror knife attack while stuck in traffic

A man has been stabbed multiple times in a horror knife attack while he sat in his car stuck in traffic.

Police have launched a probe after receiving reports of an "assault involving knives" at around 3pm on Tuesday, July 11. Emergency services, including an air ambulance, raced to the scene after the incident happened on Narberth Road in Cardiff.

The 24-year-old victim, who has not been named for safety reasons, required surgery but his injuries were not life-threatening. He described the incident to Wales Online and shared photos of his injuries which showed deep gashes on his arms and legs with large pools of blood.

The victim asked the publication not to share the photos, but revealed that there were two assailants.

The man, who has a fourth-month-old daughter, said: "I know of [the attackers] but don't know them. They were walking up the street staring at me and then they punched me through my car window.

"He told me to roll my window down so I did and he struck me through my window. I was stuck in traffic as well so there was nowhere I could go. I couldn't flee.

"All I could do was defend myself so I got out of the car to defend myself. There were two of them and one of them ran off around the corner and I got back in my car and tried to turn my car around but there was traffic both ways so I couldn't go anywhere."

The victim said that one of the attackers returned with the weapon.

He added: "I still had my window down but I didn't have time to do anything and he came back and opened my car door and slashed me in my arm and leg and my head. It was a big massive machete-looking thing.

"I looked down and blood was pouring into me. I managed to get to my nans and I was just shouting 'I've been stabbed'. I have lost about a litre of blood."

No arrests or charges have yet to be made and the man says he has received threats.

He added: "It started off with bribes and now it's threats about if I press charges. They just didn't like it that I looked at them."

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "Just after 3pm yesterday (Tuesday, July 11) a report was received of an assault involving knives at Narberth Road, Caerau. A 24-year-old man was taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, with stab wounds that have required surgery but are not life-threatening.

"It is believed those involved are known to each other and enquiries are on-going. Anyone who witnessed this incident is asked to contact South Wales Police."
