Man stabbed after gang of men burst into Scots home

A man has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed in a gang attack inside a home in East Ayrshire.

A 36-year-old man was seriously injured after several men entered a house in Kerrimuir Avenue in Hurlford at 2.30am on Wednesday morning.

The attackers then fled the scene.

Emergency services were called and the victim was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Hospital staff describe his condition as serious.

Detectives probing the attack are urging anyone with information or CCTV footage to get in touch.

Detective Sergeant Sarah Holland at Kilmarnock Police Station said: “Our enquiries are at an early stage into this incident and work is ongoing to gather more information on the circumstances and further detail on the men responsible for this attack.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area of Kerrimuir Avenue early on Wednesday morning who heard any disturbance or witnessed anything suspicious.

"We would also ask anyone who has dash-cam or personal footage that may assist our ongoing investigation to come forward.

“There are additional police patrols in the area to provide reassurance following this incident and anyone with concerns should speak to officers.”

Information can be passed to officers through 101, quoting reference 0219 of 27 April.

Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.
