A man has been appeared in court after two police officers were spat at. Officers were called to an address in Mapperley Road, St Ann’s, at around 7pm on Thursday, March 24, following reports of a disturbance.
Lee Thomas spat at two officers after being arrested over the disturbance. The 27-year-old, of Sherrington Close, Clifton, was subsequently charged with two counts of assaulting an emergency worker.
He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, March 26, and, when sentenced, he was given a community order involving an alcohol treatment programme and rehabilitation activity days. He was also ordered to pay £150 compensation and a £95 victim surcharge.

Inspector Karl Thomas, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Assaults on our officers who work tirelessly to serve and protect the public are totally unacceptable. All frontline emergency service workers have the right to go about their duties without being assaulted whether that’s verbally or physically. The force and our partners have made it clear this type of behaviour won’t be endured. I am pleased Thomas has now been dealt with by the courts.”
