Man slashed in chest by thugs who stole his electric bike

A man was slashed in the chest with a knife by three suspects who made off with his electric bike.

Merseyside Police has launched an investigation after a 20-year-old man was robbed at knifepoint in Prescot yesterday afternoon. The man was with an 18-year-old friend when they were approached by three males at the corner of Sewell Street and Manchester Road at around 3pm on Tuesday, February 7.

The 20-year-old was slashed in his chest and the three suspects robbed his red and black electric bike. Eyewitnesses reported a considerable police presence in the area following the incident.

One person reported an area close to the Park House Medical Centre was cordoned off for several hours. A spokesperson for Merseyside Police appealed for anyone with information to get in touch. The spokesperson added that anyone who lives in the area who has CCTV or smart doorbell footage should contact police.

Detective Inspector Barbara Hebden said: "This was a concerning incident and we are determined to find those responsible. If you were in the Sewell Street area on Tuesday and witnessed the incident or saw anything suspicious then please let us know.

"If you have seen the bike described for sale locally then please come forward and we will do the rest. Similarly if you were driving in the area and have dashcam footage, please review it and if you see anything, get in touch. Information you hold could be vital to our enquiries."
