Man shown covered in blood after cops race to East Kilbride shopping precinct

Horrific imagery showing a man injured and covered in blood has circulated social media. It comes following an apparent disturbance at an East Kilbride shopping precinct last night.

A police cordon was put in place at Greenhills Shopping Centre after the alarm was raised at around 4pm. Images and video circulating online show a bloodied man rolling on the ground with a huge laceration to his hand as shocked onlookers rush to his aid.

Unconfirmed reports suggest the man was injured with a bottle during ‘an altercation’ with another man.

One witness told Lanarkshire Live : “He was fighting with a guy. He got cracked and the bottle he was threatening his opponent with smashed in his hand when he fell down after getting punched.”

Police Scotland confirmed they were in attendance.

A police source told us: “At around 4.05pm on Monday (August 1), we received a report of a disturbance involving two men in Turnberry Place, East Kilbride. Officers are in attendance and one man was taken to Wishaw Hospital. Enquiries are ongoing.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101.

Information can also be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
