A dog was taken away by police after biting its owner's hand in the street.
Merseyside Police were called to Crosby Road South in Seaforth at around 12.40pm on Monday, April 25, following reports of a man being bitten by a dog. It was reported that two men and a woman were attempting to retrieve the dog, which was hiding under a parked bin lorry.
One of the men, who said he was the owner, was then bitten on the hand by the dog. Police attended and the man was reported to shout homophobic slurs at officers and a woman also spat at one of the officers.

A 31-year-old man from Seaforth was arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control and a public order offence. A 33-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.
Both were taken into custody for questioning and the dog was recovered by police.
Chief Inspector Jay Crellin said: "Merseyside Police simply will not accept such violence and abuse against officers who put their own lives and personal safety on the line to keep us all safe. Enquiries into this incident remain ongoing and regrettably, it was reported that homophobic slurs were directed towards our officers.
"Such hate has no place on Merseyside and I want to reiterate our determination to investigate and prosecute all those who we suspect are responsible for all such hate crimes in our communities. I’m sure the overwhelming majority of law-abiding members of the public would agree that such vile abuse towards police officers or other emergency workers is totally unacceptable and the arrests today shows that this will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
“Our message is clear - to those who think they can direct abuse towards our officers – we will arrest you and make sure you are bought to justice. If you witnessed the incident this afternoon and have any information, then please get in touch as anything you saw could be vital to our enquiries.”
Anyone who witnessed this incident or with any information is asked to contact @MerPolCC on Twitter or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook with reference 22000282364.
