Man dies days after he was shot following argument in South Austin

A person has been taken into custody after a man was fatally shot following an argument late last month in South Austin on the West Side.

About 8:40 p.m. on March 26, a group of people were arguing inside a house in the 1100 block of North Massasoit Avenue when two men, 33 and 20, went outside and the younger man opened fire, Chicago police said.

The older man suffered gunshot wounds to the head and knee and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died last Thursday. The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as Michael Corbitt.

The younger man was taken into custody.
