A motorcyclist has been seriously injured after crashing with a van in East Ayrshire this afternoon.
The 55-year-old was hurt in a collision on the A77 near Spittalhill, Kilmarnock at around 12.40pm today.
Medics have confirmed this evening that the motorcyclist is in a serious but stable condition after being rushed to Crosshouse Hospital.
Police have confirmed that the 21-year-old male driver was not injured in the smash.
Cops are now appealing to motorists who witnessed the crash to come forward.
The road was closed for more than three hours this afternoon to allow emergency services to carry out their work.
Sergeant Craig Beaver, of Ayrshire roads policing, said: "Although a number of motorists stopped at the time to assist, we still need people who witnessed or who maybe have dashcam footage of the collision to get in touch.
"If you were on the A77 around the time, and can assist with our enquiries, then please call Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference number 1391 of Friday, January 28.
“The road has reopened.”
