A man has been rushed to hospital after being seriously assaulted in a street attack in Johnstone as police remain at the scene.
A road has been taped off following the incident which unfolded at around 3.45pm this afternoon (March 23). Police were called to Houstoun Square, in the Renfrewshire town, after a man was the victim of a "serious assault".
It's believed a cordon has been set up between the Dessert Kings takeaway and Penman's pharmacy, where the square meets William Street.

Police confirmed the man has been taken to hospital. His condition or the nature of his injuries is not yet known.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Officers were called to Houstoun Square in Johnstone at around 3.45pm on Thursday, 23 March, after a man was the victim of a serious assault.
“He has been taken to hospital for treatment and enquiries remain ongoing. Officers remain at the scene.”
