A man was sentenced to more than a decade in prison after he attempted and failed to flush cocaine down the toilet during a raid in North Carolina.

While executing a search warrant in May 2023 at the Raleigh home of David Weaver, 46, law enforcement found the man exiting a bathroom after failing to flush cocaine down the toilet. Police then seized a loaded pistol, more than 100 rounds of ammunition, cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana and more than $11,000 in cash.

Weaver was part of a large drug trafficking operation brought down by an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation, which targets the highest-level drug traffickers, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

The suspect pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute a quantity of cocaine and one count of possession with intent to distribute a quantity of cocaine.

On Tuesday, Weaver was sentenced to 11.5 years in prison.
