Armed police descended on a cycle path this morning after reports of a man with knives.
Residents in the area said they saw a man walking down the loop line, near Grace Road in Walton, with "two swords." Merseyside police confirm they deployed armed police to the area, at around 11am following the reports.
Officers said there were further reports that the suspect handed over two knives to another person before leaving the area. They confirmed that no threats were made.

A spokesperson for Merseyside police said: "We can confirm officers are currently in Walton following an incident this morning. It was reported at around 11am that a male had been seen on a cycle path near Grace Road in possession of two knives.
"Shortly afterwards it was further reported that the male had handed the knives over to someone he knew before leaving the area on foot. There is no suggestion he made threats to anyone.
"Our enquiries are ongoing to try and locate the male and officers remain in the area. If you have any information, please message ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook or call 101 with reference 304 of 5th April."
