Man seen climbing head-first into car after breaking in

A bold thief was caught on camera apparently attempting to break into a car in broad daylight in a busy street. The incident occurred in High Street in Connah's Quay on the morning of Friday, July 8, as people went about their day.

The footage, which was shared on YouTube, shows that at around 10.55am a man being driven by someone else in a black Vauxhall Insignia pulled up beside a black Volkswagen Golf parked outside the local Tesco Express store. The front seat passenger, wearing a pair of navy shorts and a black jacket, brandishes a tool before he forces his way through the car window head-first. North Wales Live reported that the man in question also attempted to hide his identity with a blue surgical mask, navy baseball cap, and some black gloves.

Not put off by the blaring car alarm, or the passing shoppers, he continued to rifle through the contents of the car as his legs dangle out of the car window before making a swift getaway. The man appeared to leave empty-handed.

A matter of minutes after the break-in people who appear to be the owners of the vehicle return and are confused to discover their car alarm blasting out until they witness the smashed window. The clip, which is now circulating on social media, has been handed over to North Wales Police who have confirmed that "inquiries are ongoing". A force spokesman said: "We received a call at 11.18am on Friday reporting that a vehicle had been broken into outside Tesco Express on High Street, Connah’s Quay. Officers attended and our inquiries are ongoing." Anyone with information can contact police on 101. Alternatively people can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
