Man says he 'dodged a bullet' in savage response to date who called him 'fat'

Who among us hasn't been on at least one bad date?

Whether you just don't gel with the person, or they do something that really gets on your nerves, enduring a difficult time is all part and parcel of the dating scene - especially when you're meeting someone for the first time.

But one man on Reddit has been having a particularly tricky time after his Tinder date completely stood him up and refused to meet with him, as she claimed he was "too fat".

The 22-year-old man shared his story anonymously and claimed he was due to meet up with a woman he'd met online, but when she saw him "from afar" she decided he wasn't her cup of tea - and bolted from the date.

In screenshots of their texts posted in the Tinder forum on Reddit, the woman said: "I just saw you from afar and I'm sorry I can't meet you. I don't like guys who are too fat, I'm not attracted to them. I'm sorry so it's better for me to go back home than to pretend I like you. Good luck with our upcoming dates on Tinder."

The man was understandably baffled by the woman's message, especially as he pointed out there are pictures of him on Tinder that show his full body - including one of him shirtless.

But she pressed on, stating: "I thought you were less fat."

If that wasn't enough, the woman also took aim at the man's age, claiming there was no way he could be 22 and insisting he looked closer to 35.

She said: "It's better that way than pretending I like you. And you don't look 22, you look like you're much older.

"You look like you're 35, maybe I know because you haven't found a girlfriend yet. Take care of yourself more."

When the woman doubled down even further and told the man to "go to the gym some time", the man decided he'd finally had enough and snapped back.

He told her: "I'm the one dodging a bullet here."

And in the title of his Reddit post, he explained: "My first tinder experience in a long time. I’m not the smallest weighing in at 120kgs and 6’4”. I don’t know how she couldn’t tell I’m the size I am considering I have my gut out on my tinder profile and my Instagram isn’t making me look skinny either."

Commenters on the post were firmly on the man's side, as many of them took the time to make sure he knew to ignore her "shallow" comments.

One said: "You looked great in those pictures bro. She’s too immature for you and apparently extremely shallow."

As another added: "You look great and you deserve worlds better. I want to personally thank her for not wasting your time."

While others were left suspicious of the woman, as they thought she could be a catfish who is making up excuses not to meet with him so she doesn't expose her true identity.

Someone said: "I don’t know why but I just have this feeling you were being catfished. It just seems like a ton of projection. But in any case, that was really hurtful and I’m sorry you went through that experience. That is a truly unhappy person to speak to someone that way."

And a second person agreed, stating: "I‘m reading catfish from this situation too. It just seems too much like someone deliberately trying to bring you down in the cruelest way possible."
