Football fans have been overwhelmed by a social media user who in 2015 accurately prophesied Argentina would be crowned World Champions seven years later.
Earlier this evening Lionel Messi ’s South American side triumphed in Doha against reigning champions France, with the game decided on penalties.
The final, which finished 3-3, was praised as one of the best by fans as the Argentinians won their third world title.
The action kept football fans on the edge of their seats - except for Jose Miguel Polanco who predicted the result in a tweet posted on March 20, 2015.
Spookily he guessed the result would be thanks to Lionel Messi - who was named player of the tournament.
He wrote: “December 18, 2022. 34 year old Leo Messi will win the World Cup and become the greatest player of all times.
“Check back with me in seven years.”
Everything came to pass except for one little fact - Argentina’s legendary number ten is 35.
One fan replied: “I’m checking back with you! The GOAT did it and ended the debate!”
Another said: “The best part of this tweet is somehow getting Messi's age wrong, the one part that you would think it would be impossible to mess up.”
Another replied: “This is just too weird man, how on earth did he get this so spot on?!
“I demand to know the lottery results for the next ten weeks, I need to get paid man.”
The original user eventually replied to his own prophecy and revealed he is in Qatar for the World Cup finals.
He revealed it is his sixth finals to have travelled to.
He said: “Well this exploded so all I will say is that I was in Doha and the hope is bigger than ever.
“Follow my Instagram @aworldcuplife and YouTube Channel A World Cup Life to see content from my 6th World Cup I travelled to.”
After tonight’s match Lionel Messi was named player of the tournament, completing Jose’s prediction from seven years ago.
The original message was posted shortly after the date of the final was confirmed in the competition’s first winter holding.
