A man who was falsely accused of trafficking a teenager has described his shock after reading 'love letters' supposedly sent between them.
Father of four Mohammed Ramzan, also known as Mo Rammy, had his life turned upside down when Eleanor Williams claimed that he was the leader of an Asian grooming gang who had brutally raped and trafficked her across the north of England and overseas.
The then 19-year-old made a string of allegations in a Facebook post in May 2020 that was shared more than 100,000 times.
Mo and his family quickly found themselves at the centre of a vicious hate campaign as the story rocked the town of Barrow-in-Furness, leading to rallies and demonstrations.
But earlier this month Williams, now 22, was convicted of perverting the course of justice after a jury at Preston Crown Court concluded that her accusations were completely fantastical.
Amongst the evidence she fabricated was a bundle of letters found by police during a search of Williams' home in December 2020.
The letters had allegedly been sent between Ramzan and Williams, expressing their love.
But during her trial the court heard how there was "strong evidence" that the handwriting on the letters matched Williams' handwriting.
Having read the letters in full for the first time, Mo says he is 'flabbergasted.'
Businessman Mo, who ran restaurants and ice-cream vans in the town, says: "It is not even my handwriting. She got basic facts wrong. Her spelling and grammar are awful, her language is childish. She even spelled my name wrong.
"If the police had looked at these letters, in detail, from the start, they would quickly have realised that her case was built purely on lies.
"I didn't even know her. The whole relationship is complete fantasy."
He added: "Me and my family have been through unimaginable trauma - and it could all have been avoided if someone had listened to me."
In a letter apparently sent by Williams to Mo, she says: "Ohh man you brake my heart to pieces everytime I mean everything I here from you...
"You know that I love you despite everything you have done. You hurt me in so many ways and everytime I forgive you.
"You are a good person but your greed for money makes you ugly.
"Your anger is out of controle. You need to prove that you have changed."
Ending the letter she said: "You want things to be clean, a future, laughs, good times, happiness, family PEACE!
"I want all that also but I no now I won't get it with you. Never.
"You promise the world and deliver nothing.....
"I'm gutted things have had to end this way but it is what it is, got to deal with it and move on.
"No hard feelings. I guess it's an emotional goodbye."
The letters were found with an envelope addressed to "Mohammed Ramazan" at Durham prison.
Mo, who lives with his wife, Nicola, says: "I have never been to Durham prison in my entire life. I was held at the police station whilst I was being questioned about these claims but I was never charged.
"There were huge, gaping holes in her story, and these should have been spotted."
In one letter, Mo was supposed to have said: "My princess, I am proud to have you, to be able to call someone as amazing as you mine.
"You make me a good person. I don't know what to do without you girl.
"I love you forever and always my precious baby girl."
Another letters suggests their 'relationship' has been going on for many years and says: "remember when we were good, we were the best."
In one of the other fabricated letters he supposedly adds: "I know you are blaming me for everything but remember the good times forget about the bad. We can then continue when we are both free."
In the letters, 'Mr Ramzan' also appears to warn off Williams from talking to the police, saying: "I have been told you have been speaking about me to the police.
"You have to be careful in what you say as I might end up in trouble. You don't want that.
"If you stay quite we will both get away with everything."
The letter finishes with his name and a love heart.
Williams, 22, is due to be sentenced at Preston Crown Court on March 13 and 14.
