'Hardworking' lad went out for 21st birthday and never came home
A mum whose son was stabbed to death while celebrating his 21st birthday still suffers flashbacks from that night.
Gill Radcliffe said it "feels like yesterday" since her son Sam Cook was killed in Liverpool city centre. Sam was celebrating his milestone birthday when he was stabbed in the heart by Carl Madigan, in Empire nightclub, on October 21, 2017.
Five years on from the day Sam was murdered, Gill said it doesn't get any easier and the trauma of losing her only son has left her with PTSD.

To mark the fifth anniversary of his death, Gill is asking people to light a candle in memory of Sam and all those who have lost their lives to knife and gun crime.
Gill, 56, told the ECHO: "It's five years but it just feels like yesterday really. It doesn't get any easier.
"This last year has been horrific. A little girl in her own home has been shot and killed, and I just think it's important that everyone takes a minute to remember the people we've lost." Read the full story here.
Merseyrail issues 'major disruption' warning to passengers over power supply
Merseyrail have reported "major" disruption to Northern Line services this morning.
The train operator said that due to power supply issues in the Sandhills area there will be "severe" disruption. The Southport, Hunts Cross, Ormskirk and Kirkby lines are all being affected by the issues.
As a result, services are suspended between Liverpool and Bank Hall, Walton and Rice Lane. Rail replacement buses have been put in place and a limited shuttle service will run from Liverpool and Hunts Cross, Liverpool and Bank Hall and Liverpool and Walton.

Those on the Kirkby line should leave the train at Rice Lane and walk to Walton for the rail replacement bus. A Merseyrail spokesperson tweeted that the buses are unable to call at Liverpool central and will call only at Moorfields.
They added: "Passengers are advised to use Wirral Line Loop services or walk to their destination in Liverpool city centre."

‘Macca line’ drug supply busted in undercover operation
An undercover police operation helped to bring down ‘Macca line’ drug dealers who inflicted “misery” through the supply of cocaine and heroin.
Operation Ground targeted a number of “graft phones” linked to the supply of cocaine and heroin in Wirral. Both Carl Mello, 35, of Cheapside, Liverpool, and Adrian Reed, 55, of Moel Gron, Mynydd, have been jailed for their part in the drug operation.
Prosecutor, Henry Riding, told the court that Reed had been "cooking crack cocaine" for the “Ford organised Crime Group”. Working alongside Mello, the pair were linked to ‘graft phones’ - phones which were used for the purposes of selling drugs - which were in operation from September 2021 to January 2022.

Referred to as the “Macca Line”, the three separate numbers were used at different periods across four months and were referred to as Macca Line one, three and four in court. Macca Line one was in operation for the longest, with activity being logged from September 2021 to November 2021.
The phones would send out “flares” and “broadcasts” to between 12 and 48 contacts advertising the sale of drugs. The texts included phrases such as “Deveraux active, best about, Macca” and “best about as always, Macca”. Read more here.
