The body of a man has been recovered from a river in Pontypool. Gwent Police confirmed the tragic discovery after the force was called to the Afon Llwyd river just before 8am on Saturday, March 18.
Emergency services attended the incident over the weekend with a number of police vehicles reportedly present in the area around Pontypool Park. The man has been identified and his death is not being treated as suspicious, with enquiries ongoing.
A spokesperson from Gwent Police said: "The body of a man was recovered from the Avon Llwyd river in Pontypool on Saturday March 18, following a report to police at about 7.45am. The man has been identified. His death is not being treated as suspicious at this time. Enquiries are currently ongoing."
